Centre for Entrepreneurial Training (CET)
 
CET previously the Village Skills Training Programme (VSTP) provides vocational courses geared towards small enterprise development. Its main aim is to create employment opportunities to all and consequently alleviate poverty. It provides training in the following courses:
  • Bakery
  • Sewing and patchwork,
  • Fabric printing and dyeing,
  • Carpentry,
  • Blacksmith,
  • Leatherwork, and
  • Business management
The courses are offered on the RIIC campus for individuals. Decentralized training is provided on request to organized groups at the district levels. Each trainee is expected to undergo a 1 ½ hour basic business management training component per day alongside their skill training course for 4 weeks. These courses are offered at two levels, Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 courses are designed to introduce the skills while Level 2 courses take the trainee to an advanced level. The courses are of practical with little or no theory. They run from 4 to 9 weeks and a certificate is awarded upon successful completion.
 
Entry Qualifications
 
There are no entry qualifications. Interest in a specific course is the determining factor
 
Fees
 
CET is highly subsidized as it enhances attainment of government policies of poverty alleviation, among others. Trainees are charged enough to cover material costs. However, foreign students pay the entire fees.

To register for a course candidates must pay a 50% deposit and clear the remaining balance on the commencement of the course. A non-refundable registration fee of P50.00 is required.
 
Purchase order payments must be received 30 days after the date of invoice.
 
Board and Lodge Facilities
 
CET offers subsidized shared boarding for a maximum of 42 people. Meals, also subsidized, are prepared for trainees in CET kitchen facilities.
